Arabic Language Books for Beginners - Study Resources

Asalam Alaikum!

When studying Arabic, or for that matter, there is not one book that you can say is the best. As a beginner, you will find some books that are more understandable to you than others.

Not every book can help you. And it is also not necessary that you will be able to find one book that offers everything you need.

There are some books that I find good for concepts, while some are good for examples.

Here are some of the Arabic Language Books for Beginners that I have found helpful for beginners to focus on the basics of Arabic grammar

Sarf Books

  1. Tasheel us Sarf; prepared by Madrasah Islaamiyyah Benoni - South Africa - Zamzam Publishers (good for beginners, with comprehensive definitions and tables)

  2. Abwab ul Sarf by Darussalam Research Center (Detailed abwab and tables with a lot of vocabulary)

Nahw Books

  1. Tasheel un Nahw; prepared by Madrasah Islaamiyyah Benoni - South Africa - Zamzam Publishers

(Good for beginners, with comprehensive definitions, and examples)

  2. Tasheel al-Nahw based on Ilm al-Nahw of Maulana Mushtaq Ahmad Charthawali

(This is a very famous book. However, the version I have is not that detailed. It is more like a checklist kind of format with brief to-the-point definitions. Maybe it is the difference between translation)

Nahw & Sarf Combined Arabic Language Books for Beginners

  1. Arabic Tutor (Arabi ka Mualam) by Abdul Sattar Khan - Darul Ishaat

(A very helpful book covering all the topics with so many examples. The drawback to this book is that it does not have a key with it, which I find highly important for beginners to see if they are doing it right. Or else you need a teach with this book who can check your work.)

  2. Learning the Arabic Language of the Quran by Darussalam

(This book has examples from the Quran with every topic, which is helpful to find concepts applied in the Quran)

As I come across new books, I will Inshallah keep adding them in this Arabic Language Books for Beginners page.

If you have any good book recommendations that can help a fellow Muslim, please mention them in the comments as a sadqa jariyah.

See you untill next time.
